End of Season Social 2008

Where -> The Plough Inn FORFAR

When – > Tuesday 16th December 2008

Band – > Deardrie Adamson

We arrived 7pm sharp for 7:30 meal. The welcome was warm enough and the hall was decorated for Xmas.

The food was served efficiently although the vegetables were undercooked but everything was hot and at the end of the day we are not out on a gastronomic delight evening, we are out to dance and enjoy the social event.

The music was fine for dancing but the dancing was not exactly HOT, decidedly luke warm would have to be the best description of the dance quality, despite excellent re-caps by Shiela the dancing just didn’t seem to take off somehow.

Overall an average night was had.

If anyone has some photos please contact me and I will upload these to the system.

  1. I WAS A MEMBER OF THE BRANCH UNTIL I GOT MARRIED IN 2000, AND WHEN I READ THIS ON THE WEBSITE I THINK THAT THE SOCIAL SHOULD BE AN OCCASION FOR EVEY BODY ENJOYING THEMSELVES AND RELAXING WITHOUT THE TEACHER HAVE TO RECAP ON THE DANCES.
    I STAYED A MEMBER UNTIL 2002.
BUT I STILL LIKE TO LOOK AT THE WEBSITE NOW AND AGAIN.

    Hi Sheila
Thanks for popping your comments on our blog !
We are about to start our new session in Forfar and I will be regularly updating the blog again.
I do agree that relaxing and enjoying the social should be the name of the game. We have now become so used to recaps that we are kind of spoon fed and never really manage to learn dances off by heart.
I have tried for a couple of seasons now to get the group to pick a dance, learn it over say 4 weeks and then dance it off by heart, then move to another one. Unfortunately this has not been taken up or progressed so things stay as they are.
having said that, we do still have lots of fun on Tuesdays and at our socials !
We start in about 2 weeks time so keep checking back !!
