RSCDS FORFAR
The hall was looking great, a good arrangement of tables and chairs meant that the maximum dancing space was utilised. It was certainly needed, with an estimated 120 people in attendance, it was a very busy dance. The music was supplied by Marian Andersons band and it was superb . The dances were relatively well known, so our very own committee members, involved with “re-capping” did extremely well and there was very little double takes for the re-capping. This meant that we were able to work through the program at a good pace to arrive at our supper break. The food was all supplied by branch members and a huge selection of foods arrived, from fruit, sandwiches, cakes of many kinds including lemon cake from Maggie that was excellent and a pollenta cake from Jonathan which was equally scrumptious, there were merangues and excellent tray bakes of all kinds. Thanks to all who worked so hard to supply the supper.
The second half kicked off unusually with a strathspey The Minister on The Loch. A fine way to ease one back into the swing of dancing after a feast of a supper ! We danced through until around 11pm when we ended the evening with two rounds of Pollharrow Burn. The traditional raffle and supply of choc-ices broke up the second half of the evening. To say the dance was a resounding success, would I think, be an understatement. Here’s looking forward to 2010 at The Reid Hall Forfar.
